General Description

Merlin M2 is a great-looking boat with her flag blue hull, gold cove stripe and double white boot top.

She's hull #41 of the Tartan Yachts-built Thomas 35 cruiser-racer class and is configured by the Sellers as a fast cruiser.

Following dismasting in summer 2022 a new mast and boom have been spec'd by Klacko Spars to be ready for spring 2023. The boat was not damaged in the incident but the rig, mainsail and #1 genoa were lost.

The new mast is designed as a keel-step, swept double-spreader rig with 1 x 19 ss standing rigging, with forestay genoa luff foil and hydraulic backstay adjustor. Mast and boom are to be painted white. The new mast is modified from the original rig with the forestay raised from 7/8th to 15/16th fractional. This increases the upper mast stiffness while allowing removal of the running backstays that were required on the previous rig. Spinnakers are masthead hoist and tacked to a deck-mounted retractable sprit.

Merlin M2 is lying at Ashbridge's Bay YC in Toronto and available for viewing.
