General Description

Taff O Dyl is a truly unique ocean-going family or couple's cruiser.
She has comfortably and safely carried the family for many years throughout the Caribbean and Great Lakes

She is a centre-cockpit, pilothouse, heavy displacement hull with full keel. Taff O Dyl's cutter-ketch rig and 10 sails inventory afford numerous sail combinations for upwind, offwind and downwind sailing in light through storm conditions. Sail control systems are very simple and not reliant on heavy hardware for setting and adjusting.

Built in Corten steel to a Francis Jones, Naval Architect, design. Corten steel is a superior form of steel for its higher tensile strength and greater rust resistance and general durability

Simplicity of operation and maintenance were consistently applied to the fit out specs and execution in all aspects of the build.

Builder Derek Olden has a great feel and understanding of many species of wood for marine applications and it definitely enhances the utility and appeal of the living spaces on the boat. This extends to the spars which were constructed in wood by the late great Vic Carpenter.

Below, the boat has two cabins; a colossal owner's stateroom aft and a mid-ships cabin with two bunkbeds. The galley is large and sea kindly in a seaway. The head is also large. A comprehensive workshop and boat systems room is intuitively laid out. A salon forward of the pilothouse is a very comfortable lounge area with opposing convertible settees, attractive lighting, centreline dropleaf table, flatscreen TV and loads of storage.

The engine was upgraded in 2003 to a Caterpillar diesel 3054B with under 400 hours today

This could be your "run away to sea" dream boat.

Stored and covered for the winter but accessible for viewing in Swans/Port Whitby Marina yard

The owner is available for viewings on Tuesdays from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
